This bundle contains all of the lessons required to teach the US Constitution for paper 3 A Level US Government and Politics.
The lessons are fully resourced, will each take an hour to teach (however, significant home learning will be required to complete all activities), and involve extensive examination skills as well as content.
There are 10 lessons, and they also include approaches to comparing the US and UK Constitutions.

This bundle contains the second 5 lessons on the US Constitution to cover the requirements for the A Level US Government and Politics specification. It includes lessons on the 4 key features of the Constitution; introduces students to the key debate surrounding the constitution and democracy, and an introduction to the various approaches taken when analysing the Constitution in preparation for a Section 2 type question.
This is fully resourced, but access to Pearson Edexcel A Level US Government and Politics text book would be useful.
The lessons are based on a one hour lesson, but students will have to complete significant independent study to complete the set tasks.
A LEVEL US GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS LESSON 10. COMPARING THE USA AND UK CONSTITUTIONS
This is the TENTH and last lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and it focuses on comparative politics - comparing the US and UK constitutions, and introduces students to the different approaches to comparative politics.
Students complete their research on making comparisons, and wite a section 1 style answe, they are then introduced to the three approaches to comparative approaches and the criterion for a Section 2 answer, with the opportunity to complete one.

This is the NINTH lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and continues the study of the key features of the US constitution with a focus on considering the extent of democracy in the US today. It also involves sharing the criterion for writing a section 1 type question

A LEVEL US GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS LESSON 8. DEBATES SURROUNDING HOW FAR THE US REMAINS FEDERAL
This is the EIGHTH lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and continues the study of the key features of the US constitution with a focus on the key debate surrounding how far the US remains federal today. It includes all three assessment objectives and activities which include knowledge recall; group work on the debates and essay writing skills.

A LEVEL US GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS LESSON 7. BIPARTISANSHIP AND FEDERALISM
This is the SEVENTH lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and continues the study of the key features of the US constitution with a focus on bipartisanship AND FEDERALISM. It also introduces students to a 30 mark essay for the first time.
The power point aims at recapping on previous knowledge and introducing an understanding of the importance of bipartisanship for effective government. The lesson contains discussion and two detailed tasks. It is planned as a one hour lesson, but will probably take 2 hours to complete all of the activities and readings including the essay.

A LEVEL US GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS LESSON 6 SEPARATION OF POWERS, AND CHECKS AND BALANCES
This is the SIXTH lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and the first lesson which considers the key features of the US constitution.
The power point aims at recapping on previous knowledge and introducing an understanding of the separation of powers, and checks and balances aspect of the US Constitution. The lesson contains discussion and two detailed tasks. It is planned as a one hour lesson, but will probably take 2 hours to complete all of the activities and readings.

This lesson is the fourth lesson in the A Level Comparative Politics unit - it involves looking at the amendment process to the US constitution and evaluating why it is so difficult to change the original Constitution.
This lesson focuses on considering how amendment takes places and evaluating why the Constitution has been amended so infrequently with a focus on key terms, and contains activities and discussions to extend student thinking.

This resource is ideal for teaching an introduction to President Nixon for any A Level examination board. However it was originally created for AQA Unit 2Q TheAmerican Dream.
It would probably take about 2 lessons to teach if all the activities are attempted, and contains a range of question answer/writing/research activities/election map analysis suitable for extending the students. It considers why Nixon won the 1968 election, and also contains a research task on Nixon’s administration.
